Am taking a break from music and The Most Beautiful Day In The History Of The World ... concentrating on a series of prints. The series is entitled "a thousand colors made from tears" and will be available on line as individual pieces in different sizes, as well as on different papers and canvas, and will also be available as a whole set, limited run boxed se, giclee print on archival paper, signed and numbered. Info to follow. I have to finish the series. Not sure how long it will take.

I first found Hiltron on myspace, due to the fact we share a passion for the wacky world of 14's Gallery of the Absurd.
I was immediately attracted to Hiltron's darkly humorous, satirical
photographic manipulations.
The subject matter: the vacuity of
modern-day celebrity worship in our culture, of which Paris Hilton,
mafia daughter, porn tramp, of the freakish bone structure, lazy eye,
and bizarre body-part proportions, is the alpha and omega.
We are in the middle of five constitutional crises—there is only one reason the citizenry has not stormed Washington D.C. and the White House to run the homosexual Republican crime syndicate out of town—but the networks are all Anna Nicole, all Paris, all the time. (Hint: that's the reason.)
And now Hiltron has launched Hiltron's own site, Planet Hiltron.
This one killed me. Anyone who has read any part of this site will know I am often lost in the music and culture of my youth. I mean, look at that collection of losers. P-Diddy? I must say I respect the man for making a fortune recycling rock songs from the seventies and eighties, laying some lame-ass nursery-rhyme chorus over the beat. Go Diddy. The Olsen Freaks? The vagina travelogue girls ... Britney, Lindsey, and Paris?
Fools rush in ...
(Be sure to click on the pop-up so you can study Hiltron's fine work.)

Ditto my JFK obsession.

And I like Hiltron's politics, too.
Planet Hiltron.

From Mx.* 14 of the incomparable Gallery of the Absurd
comes another masterpiece. And she writes, "Diaper Man might not be a well-known Hollywood celebrity, but in our
eyes he's an international star. This jewel of a photo has been
circulating the internet for years and we think it's time for him to
make his appearance on Gallery of the Absurd. We blended Diaper
Man's disturbing pinkness with elements of Engrish nonsense for this
monstrosity of a Valentine's card."
I wrote her and informed her that I had a picture to trump DiaperMan.
There
was a time, if one entered "idiot" into google images one of the first
three pictures would be be a most amazing visage ... as John Lennon
said in I Am The Walrus,
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
See how they run like pigs from a gun, see how they fly.
I'm crying.
Sitting on a cornflake, waiting for the van to come.
Corporation tee-shirt, stupid bloody Tuesday.
Man, you been a naughty boy, you let your face grow long.
You will want to click on read more to see the photo that tells us the sun never sets on the british empire.

I was working on a series of photograms with an artist friend. The idea
was to make images (photograms) with everyday household items that
get used
as spanking implements. Then I made some rose photograms
and
was fooling around and found the bottom image and put
the two together. My friend flipped out and
wouldn't
work on the project anymore.
Oh well, I like the picture.
Think I'll do a limited edition of erotic art prints.
And if she ever gets rid of her deeply-closeted boyfriend,
I'll give her the spanking I know she so desperately craves.

This footage was originally a
short film that appeared at the Cannes Film Festival, in 1963, I
believe. I digitized it, re-edited, applied some effects and added my
own composition "Redhead Tells The Sun."
"Redhead Tells The Sun"
was inspired by a psychic named Blair--our lives briefly,
passionately intersected a couple of years back while I was on the lam
in LA. Although skeptical of her powers at first, I came to
believe very quickly that I was dealing with someone who had a foot in
another dimension at all times.
She
often mused why I had "pulled" her into my existence. She believed I
had been close to some edge and she came to pull me back from it. I
think it
was the other way around.
I'll tell you this: if Blair told the Sun something, he'd listen.
In
any case, the music complements the other-worldliness of the
wild horses, the erotic power of the images, the flight from the abyss
and the engine of creation as represented by the fire.

Arsole Molecule from Wikipedia.
Arsole is a chemical compound of the formula C4H5As. The structure is
like pyrrole except that an arsenic atom is substituted for the
nitrogen atom and that arsole is only mildly aromatic. Arsole itself
does exist but is rarely found in its pure form. Several substituted
analogs called arsoles also exist.
When arsole is fused to a benzene ring, this molecule is called benzarsole.
Furthermore, we can observe its profound effects on human beings when detected. Scientists believe there may even be a cure in the future for those afflicted..

From one of my favorite sites Astronomy Picture of the Day
This image, taken with the Hubble Space Telescope in 1995, shows evaporating gaseous globules (EGGs)
emerging from pillars of molecular
hydrogen gas and
dust.
The giant pillars are
light years in length
and are so dense that interior gas contracts gravitationally to form stars.
At each pillars' end,
the intense radiation of bright young stars
causes low density material to boil away, leaving
stellar nurseries of dense
EGGs exposed.
The Eagle Nebula, associated with the
open star cluster
M16, lies about 7000
light years away.
The pillars of creation were
imaged recently by the orbiting
Chandra X-ray Observatory, and it was found that most EGGS are not strong emitters of
X-rays.

The Serge modular system I used for Flight of the Atom Bee.
Unfortunately, this is not the photograph of the Bee patch itself: there were five positions across several panels where banana cables were piggy-backed five-high, routing control voltages hither, thither and yon. And, of course, many more spots where plugs were stacked two-, three-, or four-high, a symphony of brightly colored spaghetti strands.
For a more detailed description of the constuction of the bee, bird, bee-thought sounds, the drone, etc., please continue reading. But first ....
Ubi Mel Ibi Apes, along with my composition 3 seconds before Maia smiled, another song built around unique analog sounds from the Serge, are in the permanent collection of the SF Museum of Modern Art, as part of Glenn McKay's lightshow installation, Altered States. What does this mean? It means I got my name on a wall not in a public restroom for once.

What is rooted is easy to nourish.
What is recent is easy to correct.
What is brittle is easy to break.
What is small is easy to scatter.
Prevent trouble before it arises.
Put things in order before they exist.
The giant pine tree grows
from a tiny sprout.
The journey of a thousand miles
starts from beneath your feet.
Rushing into action, you fail.
Trying to grasp things, you lose them.
Forcing a project to completion,
you ruin what was almost ripe.
Therefore the master takes action
by letting things take their course.
He remains as calm
at the end as at the beginning.
He has nothing,
thus has nothing to lose.
What he desires is non-desire;
what he learns is to unlearn.
He simply reminds people
of who they always have been.
He cares about nothing but the Tao.
Thus he can care for all things.

From The Tao Te Ching—The Canon of the Path and the Power:
- In Tao the only motion is returning;
- The only useful quality, weakness.
- For though all creatures under heaven are the products of Being,
- Being itself is the product of Not-being.
Even here, in the simplest and final distillation of Zen thought, we find that it all leads back to a woman.

It is with a sad heart that I tell you that I discovered that Freddie was killed today, apparently hit by a car.
He was an amazing, sweet, and funny little cat. I got him at the
shelter about a year ago, to keep Henry, a cat I had gotten from my
friend Stephanie, company.
Henry and Freddie became fast friends, often napping together, playing chase, all those things loving kitties do.
I will miss him. Henry is looking for him.
I think we will go to the shelter tomorrow and bring a new cat home. But as you know, no one can replace the one you've lost.
I made this video one afternoon. He often slept like that, strung like a suspension bridge from the armchair to the scratching post, his round belly hanging. He was a source of constant joy.
Goodbye, my sweet little Freddie.

Astronomy Picture of the Day
is one of my favorite websites. Every brings a new amazing photograph or image of the seemingly limitless marvels of our universe.
When I think of the mysteries of the heavens, of light and time and space, my mind invariably drifts to the embodiment of all mystery hear on Earth.

The Post-Rapture Post - Send Messages to Loved Ones!
I hope these guys get rich.
From their website:
The
time of the rapture is at hand. The signs described in the Bible that
foreshadow the return of Jesus Christ are becoming all too clear. Not
all who live during coming Great Tribulation will be spirited away to
be with God. The Bible tells us that only those who repent of their
sins and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ may enter the Kingdom of
Heaven.
Do you know someone who is in danger of being "left behind" because of
a sinful life? Imagine if you could write a letter to a friend or loved
one after the Great Day of Reckoning. Maybe a message to your family
telling them to trust in God, and that everything will be okay. Perhaps
you would leave instructions to care for your pets after your
departure. It could be that your message is the light that opens a
sinner's eyes to the Glory of God and allows them entrance to Heaven
during the trials before the Second Coming. This is where the
Post-Rapture Post comes in.
Just write your letter and it will be hand-delivered immediately
following the exodus of the pure from the Earth. But you must be
thinking to yourself, "How can the letters be delivered after the
Rapture?" The answer is simple. The creators of this site are Atheists.
That's right, we don't believe in God. How else would we be able to
deliver your correspondence after the Rapture?
In the meantime: a song that seems apppropriate, The Sins of Kilty O'Neal. Vocal samples from the website Blackout.com. Used by permission.
Here's another song from the same era, also appropriate, called Days of Wine & Roses. Voice and chorus samples from movie of the same name. Not used with permission.
Oh, both songs by yours truly, of course: composed, composted at a time when I thought I needed to make some jungle/drumn'bass tracks to attract a younger, hipper urban audience. It worked as well as all my other plans to sell out have. Nonetheless, both songs hold a certain charm for me. Among a circle of composers and music-lovers of which I am part, there are a few people who think that Days of Wine & Roses is one of the best pieces I have ever done.
I usually think that the last piece I've composed is the best thing I've ever done. That is, of course, until the doubt creeps in.
More on the Rapture, Santa, Satan, the Pope, donuts in Heaven, and Nixon coming soon.
