zune_software_04 Leave it to MicroSoft

The iPod killer? The laugh of the year.

No wonder these guys are Republican Party. Money cannot create.

Here is a hilarious screen-by-screen piece on Installing the Zune from Engadget.

Note the Thumbs-Down gesture. Way to brand, Microsoft!

From The Smorgasbord (I changed number one because its butt-ugliness is overwhelming).

Top Ten Reasons the Microsoft Zune Sucks:

  1. It is big, fat, and ass.
  2. It won't work with any of the other Microsoft PlaysForSure Music Stores
  3. You can't use Windows Media Player to load the Zune with Music
  4. Built in Wifi connects you to other Zune's only - not wireless networks
  5. You can share songs with other Zune's over wifi, but they will auto-delete after 3 days, and you can NEVER send them to that person again
  6. It even imposes DRM and 3 day sharing limits to files YOU create add to your Zune - like mp3's from your garage band
  7. You can share music and photos with other Zune's over wifi - but NOT video
  8. The Zune store doesn't sell tv shows, movies, audio books, or have podcasts
  9. There are no additional apps, no stopwatch, no clock, no address book, etc.
  10. It comes in brown. Are they advertising it's a turd?!?

BetaNews | Zune Sales Lagging Behind iPod, Others

Part of the problem may be the beating the Zune has taken in the hands of the media. Reviews of the product have been nearly all negative, with one going as far as calling the experience "about as pleasant as having an airbag deploy in your face."

"The Zune is a complete, humiliating failure," Chicago Sun-Times technology pundit Andy Ihnatko wrote recently. "Throw in the Zune's tail-wagging relationship with music publishers, and it almost becomes important that you encourage people not to buy one."

  Riiiiiigggghhhhht ...

Losers.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Queens Of The Stone Age and T.I. will play free shows Monday (Nov. 13) to celebrate the launch of Microsoft's new Zune digital audio player. The Peppers will play in Los Angeles, while QOTSA will perform in New York and T.I. will appear in Atlanta. Venues will be announced on Monday by local blogs and media.

In addition, Lupe Fiasco will play at 401 Michigan Ave. in Chicago, while Secret Machines will play at Seattle's West Lake Plaza. The Morgan Heritage Band and Richie Spice are booked for a Zune gig in Miami.

Yesterday, Microsoft agreed to share revenue from Zune sales with record labels and artists. Forcing the issue was Universal Music Group, which at deadline is the only label named in the program. UMG refused to license its music to the Zune unless it could receive a percentage of each device sold, in addition to standard music licensing fees for downloads and subscriptions.

"These devices are just repositories for stolen music, and they all know it," UMG chairman/CEO Doug Morris says. "So it's time to get paid for it."

[Note from Knox: Want to hear someone cry, bitch and moan? Listen to a thief who's been robbed.]

Microsoft is working with all major and independent labels to establish similar revenue-sharing agreements. According to published reports, UMG is expected to receive more than $1 for each $250 device and sources at UMG have confirmed that half of all the proceeds from the device's sales will be shared equally among all its artists.

except for:

1. it actually has better sound quality. Yes, it is subjective, but very few mp3 players actually sound worse than iPod.
2. has better screen
3. selection of tracks on zune marketplace is a lot more interesting than iTunes. iTunes has a higher track count, but what do they have that's interesting?

And Know, admit it, you never even touched the Zune, but you already have a formed opinion. I'm not too surprised though.

Know == Knox.

whoa... comments too long!

As much I as I dislike MS, it's just so wonderful to see all Apple folks getting bent out of shape over this. And, I do dislike Apple even more than I dislike MS for reasons most of you Mac folks would never understand.
